I want to tell you about a fantastic event about to take place in Mountain View's SETI Institute. http://www.seti.org/site/pp.asp?c=ktJ2J9MMIsE&b=898791 These are 2 SETI Seminars with Seth Shostak. For those of you who never listened to Seth speak, let me tell you something: this guy is one of the best, most entertaining speakers, in this galaxy anyway. Trust me on this one. Listening to him talk for 4 hours (one seminar, or 2 hours - second seminar), on _any_ subject, for mere $35, this is a deal almost too good to be true. He is the public speaker for the SETI Institute for a good reason. Recently he was on Larry King Live where he single-handedly dispatched a cohort of UFO crackpots with frightening ease, while still being entertaining in the process. They don't have registration set up yet right now, the dates are to be decided, I will post again when the dates are clear and registration is up. The other seminars that have the dates open, are not his. I will make another announcement once they decide on the dates. By the way "close to something", well, I don't know if you are aware of the "Silicon Valley Astronomy Lecture Series" - these are the best free astronomy-related lectures around here. -----Original Message----- From: exi-bay-announce-bounces at lists.extropy.org [mailto:exi-bay-announce-bounces at lists.extropy.org] On Behalf Of Jones, Spike Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2005 9:56 AM To: ExI regional: SF bay area,US (announcements) Subject: RE: [Exi-bay-announce] Wonderful astronomy talks Cooool Mark, thanks! This event is for anybody interested in hearing and/or talking about cryonics over a free meal. I'll be there to hear about the recent developments in full-body vitrification (which all but eliminates the freezing damage that many people find so problematic about cryonics). Way cool! (sorry) Anybody who is interested in coming to this event, please let me know; we can carpool from my place in Menlo Park if you don't want to drive as far as Sunnyvale.
