(I did think that pink elephant costume looked >pretty realistic....) Harvey Newstrom, CISSP, CISA, CISM, IAM, IBMCP, GSEC Harvey, it wasn't that you were drinking any more than anyone else. Its just that the same amount of alcohol found in you so much less body mass to intoxicate. Perfectly good alcohol molecules were left idly standing by searching for sober cells to intoxify. My reasoning is that alcohol does not actually affect bone matter (these being the more serious and somber cells, except those in the funny bone) so the critical number is not so much body *mass* as it is the nonbone mass. In my case and yours Harvey, that nonbone mass is small indeed, consequently a relatively small amount of alcohol results in a great deal of delightful silliness, thus saving money. I followed that line of reasoning and learned to generate delightful silliness with no alcohol at all, saving still more money. Also, I fear that devouring excessive amounts of alcohol could have a detrimental effect on my brain, which is undesireable, this being my second favorite organ. spike From bronto at pobox.com Tue May 18 18:59:19 2004 From: bronto at pobox.com (Anton Sherwood) Date: Tue, 18 May 2004 11:59:19 -0700 Subject: [Exi-bay-chat] Re: New to Bay Area In-Reply-To: <47BF60A2A5AB3C4898B67142F20644694EE8E8@emss01m15.us.lmco.com> References: <47BF60A2A5AB3C4898B67142F20644694EE8E8@emss01m15.us.lmco.com> Message-ID: <40AA5D07.2080703@pobox.com> Jones, Spike wrote: > Actuality: the party didn't break up until 0045. hm, maybe i shoulda come later rather than earlier -- Anton Sherwood, http://www.ogre.nu/ From mail at HarveyNewstrom.com Tue May 18 19:02:49 2004 From: mail at HarveyNewstrom.com (Harvey Newstrom) Date: Tue, 18 May 2004 15:02:49 -0400 Subject: [Exi-bay-chat] Re: New to Bay Area In-Reply-To: <47BF60A2A5AB3C4898B67142F20644694EE8E8@emss01m15.us.lmco.com> References: <47BF60A2A5AB3C4898B67142F20644694EE8E8@emss01m15.us.lmco.com> Message-ID: <04May18.150638-0400_edt.314469-13059+1004@ams.ftl.affinity.com> Jones, Spike writes: > Harvey, it wasn't that you were drinking any more than > anyone else. Hmmm.... Using that logic, I may not be generating more creativity or ideas than average people. Maybe my brain is just smaller than everybody else's and appears to be full of ideas at a lower capacity. This is just another reason why we need Jupiter brains! > I followed that line of reasoning and learned to generate > delightful silliness with no alcohol at all, saving still > more money. Excellent! I do find that I consume much less alcohol than my boring contemporaries. I seem to find life itself exciting enough without having to dull down my perceptions. > Also, I fear that devouring excessive amounts > of alcohol could have a detrimental effect on my brain, which > is undesireable, this being my second favorite organ. I derived spikes laws of extroschmoozes: The interestingness of a bunch of extropians or transhumanists is proportional to the square of the number schmoozers present. Spike's corollary of extroschmoozes: The exasperationality of a bunch of extropians or transhumanists is proportional to the cube of the number of schmoozers present. Exasperating because it is impossible to take in all the grokitude that is being exchanged in realtime. Curse our human limitations!
