Well, that is a pretty thin thing to not disbelieve. The primary
features that neanderthal would have needed to gain greater
intelligence were the very thing that sapiens developed, so unless you
just mean they stayed ugly, any 'more intelligent' neanderthalis would
have been evolved into sapiens, so far as brain structure was concerned.
