Yes, and a big component about that that seems to be lacking in these
parts is a realization that you need to find a demand that needs
serving. Developing cool technologies is not profit making if you have
no idea who is going to buy it. Not knowing who is going to buy it
guarantees you won't find funding.
Everybody who is doing something constructive is doing so because they
have found a demand for what they are doing. Those that aren't doing
anything extropically constructive need to research for a confluence
between the things they want to do and the things people want.
