Every conscious act has some physical correlate.  This leads to an 
answer to the religious.  There is part of you that lives on after the 
body dies if you earn it!   All you have to do is master uploading of 
consciousness into something more durable and capable than the flesh.  
A "soul" isn't the given, you have to work for it.  :-)
