They're not ready to rise to the challenge - yet.
Once we're a lot closer to true AI, F or not, there
will be a lot more that switch towards making sure the
result is good for humanity.

These two points seem to be our fundamental
disagreement. We'll have to agree to disagree, to an
extent. (I agree that arguing over who should be in
the White House next year has only extremely limited
relevance, at best, such that it's probably not worth
your or my time to invest much energy there. But I
think there are other things that can have significant
enough impacts, relative to the expected efforts, to
be worth pursuing even if they aren't directly
necessary for the Singularity. You don't. And thus
we go our separate ways.)
