But, if you ask your local lumberjack, he will tell you that trees
don't always fall where you think they are going to fall. Even when
you follow procedures and cut a notch on the side you want it to fall
towards and use the chainsaw on the other side. The branch weight is
not always evenly distributed around the tree. Lumberjacks get killed
by trees twisting as they fall, or a gust of wind catching them
unexpectedly.
You've surely all seen the home videos on tv where the good ol' boys
saw a tree in the yard down, and it smashes into their house? :)
