Which, of course, requires that they be in some kind of physical body
that could have any say over whether it was unplugged or not.  AIs like
we see today - confined in servers, and largely unaware of the
non-virtual world - wouldn't cut it.  Even an AI on a disconnected
desktop, making demands but powerless to initiate any action on its
own, would more likely be unplugged over its own objections, no matter
how smart it was, than to openly dominate any group of people.
