Actually, that isn't contrary. Email and Web access can be distracting
at first, thus causing the same effect as a temporary IQ drop while one
learns the system. The effect is perhaps comparable, in some ways, to
puberty.
I'm waiting for the study that compares experienced Web and email users
to those who have never used the Internet.
