They say it's a device for filtering out viruses, although I wonder if
it could be modified to screen out other things as well (excess glucose
or that which would cause arterial plaques, perhaps). Similar things
have been around for a while, but this looks like a form factor that
could possibly become practical for over-the-counter sales (if the
little issue of people making small incisions in themselves can be
accepted for OTC). The cool part is, of course, not just that it
exists but that it's getting within sight of commercialization.
