Very few companies invest the resources necessary to properly structure
their various sources of "tribal" knowledge. It's very difficult to
satisfy stakeholders interested in near-term gain, and at the same time
put significant resources into something as long-term and ephemeral as
"information."

Also, unstructured information such as employee emails can be a huge
liability to a company that might be sued, however frivolous the
motivation might be.

Theses observations highlight that there's something paradoxical about
the structure of our society and its support and promotion of
enterprise.
