While communist fallout was an exacerbating factor, you'll notice that
all of the developed countries are well below replacement rate (but the U.S.,
but only due to red state excess and immigration), and demographics alone 
is about to finish off the economy. What's worse, is that the society is
stratifying (the middle class is going fast, about everywhere), that education
is very much failing, and that we've about have ceased innovating.
By itself, this is not fatal, if someone else is about to pick up the
