They are (very unlikely) disaster scenarios (production of:
black holes, killer strange quark matters, etc.) inspired by
hypothetical fundamental processes that might occur in high energy
relativistic heavy ion collisions.
(Note that such hypothetical processes would be interesting
from some general energy supply perspective).
The continued existence of the Moon, and Earth, after
so many years of cosmic ray exposure, seems to provide
evidence against the possibility of dangers.
