Ah, that is the difference from my situation.  I have no
employer-provided plan, so I get health insurance as a self-employed
person, which is probably the most awkward system to be in, within the
US health care system.  (Ironically, as this is the Land of
Entrepreneurs ... but a surplus of consistency has never been the US's
problem...)
