[extropy-chat] WWI stats: A Correction For French Army Causalties

Sorry---I dragged some stats from memory a few days ago
concerning French casualties in WWI.  Alas, the older the
source, the more unreliable, it seems.

For the record, a 2006 book by Peter Turchin, "War and
Peace and War" says

    "In France, every sixth soldier mobilized for war was
    killed, and more than half were wounded.  Only one
    soldier in three escaped... unscathed in body..."
