This popular turn of speech has an entirely different meaning to those who
have repeatedly suffered miscarriages while trying to have a baby.  Many
women can conceive but for whatever reason the embryo doesn't make it all
the way.  So at the moment of conception, the unfortunately lady is, in an
all too real sense, only 10% pregnant.  Two months later, she could be
described as being ~30% pregnant.
