I have no idea how to do that in the general case; but then, it would be
surprising if I did, considering how much we don't know yet about how the
brain generates feelings.

Hopefully once we get to the stage where we do have whole brain uploads
(where it's easy enough, as you say), we'll know enough to have some idea
about other potential cases.
