Political correctness (which is a modern plague). And maybe that's the 
reason that explains the fact that us occidentals are becoming a bunch of 
whiny wimps.

When irony and sarcasm also start being classified as violence I hope I can 
be off world...

There's a saying I like very much to use (and which I don't know who's the 
author): If you don't want to be ridiculed then don't be ridiculous.
