The first two were important in their day; the much later third was
execrable, probably extruded as poor vV slipped down into
Alzheimer's. Wright nods toward some of the plotting in NULL-A THREE
but ignores the worst aspects.

Not only those--he brilliantly conscripts elements from other key vV
novels as well, notably Nexialism from SPACE BEAGLE, numerous aspects
of the WEAPON SHOPS books, and some other surprise guest appearances.
The whole thing is a superb juggling act that remains almost
pitch-perfectly true to the original's voice and temper.
