Apropos recent discussion, a favorite Picasso quote is "Art is the lie
that tells the truth."

It took me many years to realize, after being pulled dragging and
kicking almost all the way, that it is meaningless to talk of Truth
other than pragmatic "truth."  Learning carpentry from my father
helped with the realization, but I didn't recognize it until over 20
years later.
