Whoa, who's this "we", bub? ;-)  I suspect I speak for many in saying 
that I never lost my way -- NASA and others just stood on our toes 
and slowed us down.

BTW, talking of SF, yesterday I finally made an exception to my "no 
buying SF books" rule and bought Damien's Transcension.
