That's what "common solecism" means--a common mistake of usage, in 
this case of pronunciation. My little word is a portmanteau of 
"asked(for information)-mispronounced-as-aksed" and "accessed". (And 
since the people using it in my novel tend to be the equivalent of 
today's rich and powerful, there's a little puzzling frisson for the 
reader precisely because they're *not* uneducated.)

But yes, for all these reasons I didn't really expect it to spread 
like a hot new meme. I fear my brand of punnish whimsy does not 
travel well in the USA.
