Agreed on almost everything. Religion/faith is necessary fiction to fill empty heads that would otherwise be filled with something else; perhaps something worse; that is what I meant before about 'filling a vacuum', only in the empty vessel of some redneck's beer sloshed head. Religion is IMO necessary for some families for the same reason; say, a family of yahoos ceases churchgoing, then they might trade off religion/faith for eating more to fill the void in their psyches; drink more spirits, become sex addicts. They might dissemble more to each other than they would if they didn't have the pressure from religious guilt.
