While there is some truth to that, one must explain why a whole lot of people made the same mistake around the same time.  I didn't think that for no reason at all, lots of people just decided to start not thinking ahead.  Granted, during any period, inflation or no, there will always be short-sighted people, but the inflationary boom set the stage, don't you think?
