What is good for the goose is good for the gander: it seems to me that
this kind of software could also be used to detect abnormal behaviour in
public officials. Automating corruption detection could be a very useful
task - especially if it does not need to run on government systems.
Accountability enhancement might be the wave of the future.
So the thing to do is 1) keep an eye on the publications of this kind of
project, adopting the data mining ideas for open architectures, and 2)
politically enforce as much transparency and accountability as possible in
our respective governments.
