Of course. What I am saying is that the *evolution* of the Jihad
concept - which as I said has some scriptural and traditional comfort
- was largely influenced by the "crusade culture".

More or less as Wahabism, in spite of its "traditionalist" pretences,
is an exquisitely *modern* trend in Islam.
