civilization (whose intellectual offspring might be able to survive

strikes or the sun going red giant), then we are rapidly progressing.

All doesn't matter much anyway, since in a few decades the dominant
sentients on this planet will be able to choose the attributes of
their physical manifestations. They could even manifest as hairy
ape-men, should they feel the need to burn resources on such a folly.
