Gmail users will soon notice a Buzz folder appearing next to their Inbox.
(You need to be using the newer version of Gmail, not the simpler
older version).

So far it seems to be like an instant messaging system to which you
can add pictures or videos. It has 'Friends' and 'Followers' to
organise the distribution of your Buzz messages. Messages appear
immediately, so a conversation can be maintained, or more like a
conference call with selected 'Friends'.
Google claim that their anti-spam software and their 'Don't like'
button will cut down on the amount of garbage that these social
systems usually generate.

As with all these sharing systems, you should immediately edit your
Buzz profile to make sure you are only sharing what you want to share.
 ;)

Commentators are hinting at Google trying to replace Facebook,
Twitter, etc. but we will have to wait an see how many people use it.
There are more features expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks.
