[ExI] Psychoactives

How does everyone here feel about the use of psychoactives to achieve
novel thinking patterns? Even discounting medical applications (DXM for
Downs, Cannabis for cancer, mushrooms for migraines, LSD for OCD,)
psychoactives play an important role in human thought, especially when it
comes to understanding systemic or logical concepts--they are ideal tools
for finding solutions, and factored into the double-helix discovery and the
invention of the PCR, as wall as numerous computer science dealies.
Marijuana tips the scales of the mind towards creativity and allows for new
thought processes; tryptamines and phenethylamines and some weird guys like
Salvinorin A blow it out of the water completely and introduce the mind to
pure possibility.

Given that many of you were teenagers right around when this stuff was HUGE,
I would think that some of your jaded adolescent minds latched onto Leary
and found that, while the assumed prophets of drugs might be spinning their
wheels about DMT-world talking basketballs, psychoactives themselves could
be a useful tool in ideation, for the simple fact that they DO make new
mental patterns and connection and that, given the brain's logical system,
new patterns and equations means new possibility of
understanding--visualizing 4D objects is only as difficult as the brain
producing visual equations compatible with a four-coordinate system (or
however it does the stuff it does.)

Do you smart folk have your own psychonautic (though the term has been
adopted by some of the sillier people) agendas? Or are there still limits
in this slice of intelligentsian delight? (I hope not)
