I find auto summary software invaluable. Most word processors will
provide you with an executive summary of large documents. You can also
get specialized abstract and summary software.

You can really get through a lot of books very quickly using this system.
For example, 'The Spike' translates to
'Things will get very weird very quickly'.

If you add in the Google machine translation step, you can read
foreign language books as well. (Although the results can be a bit
unpredictable).
