Sorry, that second sentence is confusing. I meant that I disagree with the view "not having patents stifles innovation." In other words, I do not believe that innovation is stifled by a lack of patents. (This is aside from the moral case against patents and intellectual property in general.)

patents are issued by the state, and I also would prefer to have them
issued by a private authority but for now state patents are better
than nothing).
