Of course the # 42 doesn't exist! It was invented just like every other
concept. That is not to say that the # 42 is either meaningless or
useless. The # 42 has a very well defined meaning *with respect to a
unit* (which may or may not be meaningful or useful). If you had 42
marbles, they would certainly exist and the number would be useful for
describing them.
