Richard, regardless of whether the consensus is real, fake or
whatever, and regardless of 8-4, 9-3, 7-5 or whatever other football
scores, this intense and rude reaction is completely out of place.

I am inclined to think you are too emotionally and politically
invested in this and, by consequence, your opinions on the scientific
side of the issue should be ignored, which I am going to do.

The initial messages were not rude and insulting, yours is. You
deserve the BULLSHIT that you got in reply from Max, to which I will
add mine.
