Perhaps.  Actually I hope it was a hoax.  I despair of our species if any
member of it would hand any member of any other species a loaded and ready
to fire AK47.  That the weapon was ready to fire without even the safety
engaged is evidence of a hoax, but if so, they really went to a lot of
effort.  Notice when the ape begins to fire, there is apparently something
hitting the ground right where he is pointing.  To make a fake video of that
would require some major effort.
