Yes, but it is pretty pointless to say that whatever survives must, by
definition, be the fittest.
The article is pointing out that many different types of 'fitness' survive.
Not just the biggest, strongest lions survive.
And there is cataclysmic change to allow for as well.
The dinos were the fittest for millennia.
