### Damien, maybe you won't believe me but the general beneficence of
international trade (and the disutility of trade barriers including
tariffs) is one of the best established conclusions of the last 200
years of economic theory. Not even Keynesians and Marxist economists
will defend tariffs (and still be able to publish anywhere
mainstream).
