The article is about US, which is not relevant. The ~1 Gpeople currently
on the brink of starvation are not in the US. The energy hunger will cause
famines in those regions already on the precipice, so it's roughly 2-3 
Gpeople most affected, mostly in Africa and parts of Asia. It is hard
to say when population peaks, the World3 curves look as if it's shifted to
2040 or even 2050. Predicting wars with WoMD is even completely impossible.

I think we need a modern repeat of World3, with detailed regional impact, and 
prepare agriculture which is low-nitrogen, low-pesticide and low-runoff
in general, as well as looking into large scale algaculture for food
production, and build up dry food stock.
