Indeed. For shame.

Except that backups are not the solution if you have to shut down the 
hospital to reinstall everything.

Hospital software security is known to be scarily bad. Medical device 
software security is deeply flawed (manufacturers have not realized they 
are in need of software security, and updating medical software is 
hindered by certification regulations), and then they are networked 
together in unsafe ways in systems open to all sorts of easy access.
