On

Thursday at 10.30 EST (15.30GMT)

the

Laser Interferometer Gravitation-Wave Observatory

will announce if they've found gravitational waves or not after its recent
upgrade. Before the upgrade LIGO could detect binary neutron star mergers
50 million light years

away, after the upgrade it could detect them 650 light years away, a volume
over 2000 times larger. The physics world is full of rumors.
