Best translation:-
1 Timothy 6:10    For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil.

As with all quotations (Bible, et al.) context is needed to get at the
original meaning.
Paul was giving advice to Timothy about early preachers who were
teaching that if you followed Christianity God would reward you and
make you wealthy in this life. Paul was opposing this teaching and
emphasising faith and love and spiritual rewards. Seeking money was
descriibed as leading people astray from the faith.
