OK I agree that system makes sense, but I disagree with your words 3 through 10 in your first sentence. I could think of another protocol which makes just as much sense and has some advantages: switch the gender-specific pronoun to the opposite one from which one identifies. Some will argue it is absurd to switch the gender specificity while others will embrace the notion, ideally splitting the crowd approximately in half. That way, the reader still cannot determine either the gender or gender identity of the writer based on how they uses their pronouns.
