The Google paper that was briefly posted said that they proved "Quantum speedup is achievable in a real-world system and is not precluded by any hidden physical laws", and they predict " quantum computing power will grow at a double exponential rate".

 

Double exponential rate? That's starting to sound a bit like a singularity.
