An interesting theory. And so goodlooking people, having an easier time of
it, getting mates and resources, stayed behind? I suppose quite a few
"incels" of the 18th and 19th century, headed out west, in search of
wealth, in hopes of gaining status and a quality mate. But despite your
theory, I still tend to think most settlers and cowboys were actually of
average appearance. I love books about the old west, and the many
photographs I have seen of the people of the time, showed individuals were
who not generally ugly.

I do find it interesting how Australia is known for a goodlooking populace,
despite having originated from outlaw colonists. Perhaps lots of lowborn
and troublemaking alpha males were sent there by the British, to stop them
from causing anymore trouble for local law enforcement and the crown. And
now the Australian gene pool further changes due to the large amount of
Asian immigrants. If only Damien Broderick were still posting to the list...
