Agreed. It’s also not the usual sort of civil war. For comparison, the English, Chinese, Russian, and various Roman civil wars — as well as countless others ranging from ancient Corcyra to modern Syria — were about who should rule the whole nation as well as the type of regime it should be. The American Civil War, however, was really about The South breaking away to preserve its slave system.
