Not at all, for machine gun doohickeys were already functionally illegal in the US since the 1930s when the gangsters used Tommy guns to slay each other in mass.  Today you can get one legally as a hobbyist, if you go thru a pile of licensing procedures that take a lotta time and cost a lotta money, but those are extremely rare.  I have never even seen one in person outside a gun show.

 

Dylan or anyone else, can you explain what the term “assault rifle” really means, knowing it specifically is not a machine gun doohickey?  

 

The legislature can’t either.

 

The real answer to this is significant and extremely educational, which is why I stay right on this subject.
