They take it seriously.  As reported in the Irish Times (and the Week),
many dignitaries gathered for a 50 year anniversary of the legislature's
golf society - no masks, no social distancing.  They had passed very strict
laws about those things such that Irish families have had to miss their
relatives' funerals.

Result:  several senators forced to resign; a cabinet minister; a European
commissioner whose apology was deemed insufficient.
