His declared intent is to live long enough to see his son graduate next
June.  After that he figures he doesn't have long to live (and he's not the
type to seriously consider cryo, or any other option we might suggest).  I
am not as pessimistic about his probable lifespan as he is, but it seems
easiest to "win" that argument by just waiting until he fails to die on
time.
