Yes it was!
Remember that most of these cases show little or no symptoms and very
very few are hospitalised or die.
Think of it as thousands of people being vaccinated every day. They
will all show positive detections.
When a large enough percentage of the population has a positive
detection and becomes a 'case' with no symptoms, herd immunity happens
and the pandemic will be over.
The virus will still be around, so at risk people will still have to
take precautions until a vaccination is available.
