Easier to just leave your phone at home.  :)

Google has been and is now being sued for still tracking phones after
location has been switched off.
To be totally secure you need to remove the battery from the phone so
that the device has no power to do anything.
Phones can be infected with hidden malware that keeps tracking
operational and hidden from the user, (like Find my Phone app) but
even that can't work without a battery.
