They are not "AGI haters." Dr. Bender actually addressed this non
sequitur in a recent tweet. As Professor of Computational Linguistics. she
is very *pro-AI*, but feels and I agree that people should stop using
hyperbolic language. She is urging wild-eyed dreamers like you to tone it
down and quit making extravagant and unfounded claims about conscious
language models and so on.

She blames much of it on corporate greed, which could possibly explain that
faux pax about Bard learning Bengali with no help.
